What are quartz worktops? Engineered quartz is the most popular choice for modern kitchen worktops in the UK. Combining up to 95% natural quartz minerals with advanced polymer resins, the manufacturing process creates an incredibly durable, completely non-porous surface that requires absolutely zero chemical sealing. Available in hundreds of striking colours, from pristine mirror-chip whites to highly realistic Italian marble designs, quartz is exceptionally resistant to scratches and everyday household stains. With the industry rapidly transitioning towards sustainable, low-silica mineral blends, quartz remains the ultimate hygienic, low-maintenance centrepiece for any bespoke kitchen renovation.

Why Choose Quartz for Your Kitchen?
Quartz has dominated the kitchen worktop market for over a decade because it perfectly balances luxury aesthetics with flawless everyday functionality.
Unmatched Durability
Natural quartz is one of the hardest minerals on earth. When engineered under extreme vacuum pressure, the resulting slab is incredibly tough and highly resistant to the chips, cracks and scratches that often plague softer natural stones.
Completely Non-Porous
Unlike natural marble or granite, quartz has a completely closed surface. Liquid spills from red wine, coffee, turmeric and cooking oils simply cannot penetrate the stone, making it virtually stain-proof and exceptionally hygienic for food preparation.
Incredible Design Versatility
Because it is an engineered product, the design possibilities are endless. Whether you want a flawless solid grey for an industrial aesthetic, or a deeply veined Calacatta to mimic luxury Italian marble, quartz provides total colour consistency across your entire kitchen.
The Low-Silica Revolution
We are proud to stock the next generation of quartz surfaces. Many of our leading brands, including Silestone, have transitioned to advanced low-silica mineral blends and recycled materials, offering a safer, highly sustainable product without compromising on legendary durability.
Effortless Daily Maintenance
One of the greatest benefits of choosing engineered quartz is the complete lack of maintenance required. Natural stones demand regular chemical sealing to prevent them from absorbing water and bacteria. Quartz requires none of this. To keep your worktops looking immaculate and preserve their factory polish, all you need is a soft microfibre cloth and warm soapy water.

Frequently Asked Questions
The price of quartz varies significantly depending on the brand, the complexity of the marble veining and the thickness of the slab. Our live online calculator allows you to compare prices across hundreds of stones instantly. Simply select your favourite quartz from the grid above, enter your kitchen measurements and get an exact fabrication and installation price in seconds.
We strongly advise against placing hot pans directly onto quartz. While the natural minerals are highly heat resistant, the advanced resins used to bind the stone can be damaged or discoloured by sudden thermal shock. Always use a heat pad or trivet to protect your worktops and your manufacturer warranty.
No, quartz is exceptionally resistant to scratching from everyday kitchen use. However, you should never chop food directly on the surface. A sharp steel kitchen knife can eventually dull the polished finish and leave metallic transfer marks on the stone. We always recommend using a standard chopping board.
